Smiling :)

Over the last week or so Nate and I have noticed little smirks here and there that look like a smile or two but this week it's more obvious Jonah really is smiling at mommy and daddy! He has begun to show his personality through that adorable little smile and melted our hearts all over again.

Jonah is TWO months!

Jonah is two months! He has grown so much in the last month...he is almost 10 lbs! His "colic" is doing much better. After that first initial weekend, things have been going good. I don't know if we finally figured out what works with him or if the change in my diet is working. He is now starting to really focus in on objects. He has also began to grin a little bit. We are a little confused on whether it is gas or he is actually smiling; nonetheless, it is fun to watch. He has also started to sleep through the night. Apparently this means 5 hours in the parenting world. Five hours is better than every hour though.

Sick Call

The goal was a success...or was it? Jonah has done a great job of coming off of the bottle and I think I am producing enough for him now. However, he wants NOTHING to do with a bottle or the supplementer! Uggg! I know the goal was to get him off the bottle for a few days but not FOREVER! Every time he drinks from either he screams bloody murder like he is hurting. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. Nathan and I called the doctor yesterday and explained all the symptoms. The nurse said it sounded like an ear infection and that we needed to bring him in tomorrow (which is today). I was a little nervous when we got to the doctor's because I didn't want my baby to be sick but on the other hand it would explain his crying. When we walked in she did an exam and found NOTHING! This was a praise but also a little scary because it didn't answer our question of what's wrong? The doctor explained that it must be COLIC (the dreaded word parents don't want to hear). I walked out of the office so overwhelmed. I don't know how I'm going to make it through a couple more months (till he outgrows it) of this. Please pray for us and that we will have the wisdom and strength to make it through.

Lactation Specialist

I had a lactation specialist come out to the house today to give me a few pointers with nursing. This past week Jonah and I spent the week in VA at my parents visiting family. On Tuesday I think Jonah hit a growth spurt and wanted to eat all the time and I was giving him formula after each feeding. When we got back to NC his habits were still the same. I wanted to meet with the LS to make sure I was producing enough milk.  She was a lot of help but left me with a list of things to do. The goal is to get Jonah 100% off the bottle...in order for him to do this I have to feed him, pump for 10 minuets and supplement with a little tube attached to me each feeding. This is going to be a challenging few days.

Busy Weekend!

This weekend was a super packed weekend.  My parents came in town on Thursday and on Friday mom and I took Jonah to the doctor because it seemed like he may have acid reflux. The appointment went really well and I really liked the doctor. He sat down and talked to us for 45 minutes. He gave us a few suggestions and put Jonah on Prevacid. Hopefully it will kick in soon and he will start to feel better.
Saturday was my 28th birthday! It was great to have my parents in town and spend the day with my favorite 3 1/2 people :) We kind of got a late start to the day because Jonah wasn't having a good morning...once we got out we went to the new Mellow Mushroom in Wake Forest. After lunch we headed to North Hills to walk around and get ice cream. It was a great day!
Sunday was my first Mother's Day! We had Jonah's dedication too. There was no better way to spend my mother's day than to dedicat Jonah to the Lord. We are so blessed by this little person in our lives!
